Singing in a key that fits you

If a song is too high to sing, lower it by 2 or 3 semitones. If it's too low, raise it. One semitone is one key on a piano, and 12 semitones make a full octave.

Playing along on guitar or piano

Songs are sometimes tuned a little off or recorded in an awkward key. Shift the song to a key you know, or use a capo position and move the song to match it.

Does changing the pitch change the speed?

No. The song keeps its tempo and length. Only the key moves.

How many semitones is a key change?

Each semitone is one step. Going from C to D is 2 semitones, and 12 semitones is one octave.
