.aac and .m4aUp to 320 kbpsNo upload

How it works

Open the AAC

Choose an .aac file from your device.

Pick a quality

Keep it at or above the original bitrate. 192 kbps suits most files.

Download the MP3

Press Convert, then Download.

AAC or MP3?

AAC is the newer format and sounds a little better at the same size, which is why Apple, YouTube and many radio apps use it. MP3 is older but plays on everything, including car stereos and simple MP3 players that don't support AAC.

Same thing as M4A?

Almost. An M4A file is AAC audio inside an MP4 container, while a .aac file is the raw stream. MeloCut opens both. For M4A files there is a separate M4A to MP3 page.

Questions and answers

Which bitrate should I choose?

Pick at least the bitrate of the original. Going higher does not add quality, it only makes the file bigger.

Can I convert several AAC files into one MP3?

Yes. Use the Audio Joiner to put them together and save one MP3.
