How to make a ringtone from a video
Got a video with a sound you love, like your kid laughing, a concert clip or a funny moment? Here's how to make it your ringtone.
1. Open the video in the Ringtone Maker
Go to the Ringtone Maker and choose the video from your Photos, Gallery or Files. MeloCut uses the sound and ignores the picture.
2. Pick the part you want
Drag on the waveform to select up to 40 seconds. The loud parts show up as tall bars, which makes the good moments easy to find. Press Play to check.
3. Make it sound good as a ringtone
- Leave Fade in and Fade out on so it doesn't start or stop abruptly.
- Phone videos are often quiet. Open Effects and turn on Auto loudness.
- If there's wind or crowd noise behind a voice, turn on AI noise removal.
4. Save it in the right format
Choose M4R for iPhone or MP3 for Android, then Convert and Download.
5. Set it on your phone
Follow the ringtone setup guide for iPhone (with GarageBand or a computer) or Android.
Picking a good moment
A ringtone has to work in the first two seconds, because that's often all you hear before you answer. Start right on the sound you want, not on silence before it. Short, distinctive sounds work best: a laugh, a shout, a chorus, a catchphrase. Keep it between 10 and 30 seconds; it loops if nobody answers.
Videos from other people
Saved a clip from a group chat? It works the same way: save the video to your phone first, then open it in the Ringtone Maker. For a sound from social media, only use clips you're allowed to use.
Questions and answers
Can I use a video I downloaded from social media?
Only use videos you made yourself or have permission to use, and respect copyright.
Why is my ringtone too quiet?
Turn on Auto loudness or raise Volume in Effects before converting.
Can I use a WhatsApp video?
Yes. Save it to your phone from the chat (Share → Save), then open it in the Ringtone Maker.
What if the video is very long?
That is fine. MeloCut only uses the part you select, up to 40 seconds, and files up to 1 GB open normally.
